Emergency shelter gets you safe. The residential program gets you ready. For survivors who need more than 45 days to rebuild, our long-term residential program provides a structured, supportive environment where recovery and independence happen side by side.
You don't have to figure out your next step alone. From the day you arrive, you're working with a team that understands where you've been and believes in where you're going.
What the Residential Program Includes
Stable housing is the foundation. Around it, we wrap every service you need to move forward:
- Individual counseling and trauma-informed mental health support
- Children's services and play therapy so your kids heal alongside you
- Job readiness training and employment support
- Financial empowerment — budgeting, banking, and building toward stability
- Life skills and parenting support
- Abuse recovery and anger management programming
- Substance abuse recovery support
- GED assistance and continuing education resources
- Safety planning and protective order assistance
- Case management with a dedicated advocate
- Ministry support and spiritual care, available to all residents
- Transportation assistance
Every service is available under one roof. You won't be referred out and left to navigate a patchwork of agencies on your own.

We know that when a mother is in crisis, her children are too. Our whole-family approach means your kids aren't waiting in the background while you recover — they have their own support, their own space, and their own path toward healing through our children's services and play therapy program.
Who the Residential Program Serves
Our residential program is open to survivors of domestic violence who need longer-term housing and recovery support. We serve women and their children from across Texas and, in some cases, from other states.
If you need to put real distance between yourself and an abusive situation, relocating to our program is a path many survivors have taken. A new county, a new community, and a team walking beside you — that combination matters.
We also serve survivors transitioning directly from our emergency shelter, so the path from crisis to stability can happen in one continuous, supported journey.
This is the only organization in the area offering both emergency shelter and a residential program under one roof. That continuity isn't incidental — it's built into how we care for the people we serve.
What Does the Residential Program Look Like Day to Day?

How long is the residential program?
Program length is individualized based on your situation and goals. Unlike emergency shelter, which has a 45-day limit, the residential program is designed to give you the time you actually need to reach stability. Your case manager works with you to set a realistic timeline and milestone plan.

Do I have to be a Texas resident to apply?

Can I bring my children?
Yes. Children are welcome in the residential program, and dedicated children's services — including play therapy — are available to support them throughout their time with us.

Is the program faith-based? Do I have to share your beliefs to participate?
Ministry support is available to residents who want it, but participation is entirely voluntary. We serve everyone, regardless of religious background or belief. Our non-discrimination policy is published and we stand behind it.

What's the difference between emergency shelter and the residential program?
Emergency shelter is short-term — up to 45 days — and focused on immediate safety. The residential program is longer-term and built around structured recovery: counseling, job readiness, financial empowerment, life skills, and a planned path to independence. Some survivors move from emergency shelter into the residential program. Others enter the residential program directly.
